With Fisher Investments, you're not simply another account number. Our firm has been purposefully structured to put our clients' interests first. We separate service, sales and portfolio management to help ensure you're working with someone focused in their area and on you. We believe this division of labor helps ensure you have our undivided care at every stage of the relationship. Our five-member Investment Policy Committee, supported by a dedicated research staff, makes all strategic investment decisions for the portfolio. The Investment Policy Committee has over 150 combined years of industry experience. Our time-tested, top-down portfolio management approach starts by analyzing broad global economic, political and sentiment factors. Then, using that analysis, we find opportunities across investment categories before narrowing down the specific securities we believe will perform well moving forward. We're also privately held, which means we control our destiny. In our view, our independence means we're better able to do what's best for our clients and to think differently fom many in our industry.
K.C. Ellis:
We help individuals and families assess their financial situation, plan for the long term and invest to meet their goals, always putting our clients' needs first. As a client, you'll receive highly personalized, world-class service. You'll work with a service team who is the primary point of contact between you, the firm, and the Investment Policy Committee. Their sole job is to make sure you understand and are comfortable with the investments in your portfolio, our rationale for choosing them and for staying up to date on any changes that may occur in your life, which could warrant a strategic portfolio shift. You'll receive proactive communications from the firm detailing our market outlook and thoughts on recent market events in the form of written communications, video updates and podcasts you can listen to at your convenience. We also offer in-person and virtual client events, giving you the opportunity to hear directly from senior firm leaders and research personnel, and to ask them any questions you might have. You deserve a tailored portfolio, not a cookie-cutter strategy. We take the time to learn about your unique goals and needs. Then, we create a personalized investment plan and help you stay disciplined to your strategy through proactive service and educational resources. We believe our active and flexible approach to portfolio management can help you reach your long-term objectives. When planning for retirement, an average retirement strategy is most likely to end with an average result, at best. We believe there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all when it comes to retirement strategies. Our professionals look at your entire financial picture to build customized strategies to fit your needs, retirement goals and investment time horizon.
Paige Tyson:
Our Investment Policy Committee makes all of the strategic investment decisions in client portfolios. This five-member team consists of Ken Fisher, Jeff Silk, Aaron Anderson, Bill Glaser and Michael Hanson. Combined, the group has over 150 years of industry experience, many of which have been spent working closely together through numerous market cycles, making the team exceptionally stable. They also manage the assets of over 200 prominent global institutions and employers. The Investment Policy Committee is supported by a large team of research professionals who work collaboratively to monitor and analyze global capital markets and identify durable investment opportunities for our clients, while always monitoring risk. Overall, our goal is to have our eyes on all areas of the market and there are three primary teams who accomplish this: Capital Markets, Securities and Capital Markets Innovation. Capital Markets and Securities conduct applied research and provide their analysis to the Investment Policy Committee. Each analyst has a specialized area of coverage, such as the United States or the technology sector. Capital markets conducts top down research and they focus on understanding the economic, political and sentiment drivers within countries and sectors across the globe, and they monitor macro level trends. They work closely with our securities team. Securities does bottom up research to ensure we're selecting stocks that best execute on those higher level themes we've identified. They also monitor all holdings on an ongoing basis to ensure they're behaving as expected as market conditions evolve. The Capital Markets Innovation Team takes a more quantitative approach and focuses on finding new, differentiated ways of looking at markets. We call this type of proprietary research capital markets technology, and it complements the more fundamental applied research that the capital markets and securities team conducts. Overall, our research group works collaboratively and diligently to help ensure the Investment Policy Committee's best ideas are implemented into your portfolio.
Aaron Anderson:
Once we have a plan for your assets, we use our time-tested investment process to select investments and build your portfolio. Our investment approach differs from many other money managers' in that it's flexible, global and top down. Unlike many money managers, we don't only invest in one category of the market, like growth or small cap equities. We understand categories rotate in and out of favor and are confident in our ability to adjust portfolios to benefit from changes in leaderships that we identify. Similarly, we don't only invest in one country. Investors tend to have a bias to their home country equities. But we think that bias can limit investment opportunities. We take a global approach to investing, allowing us to diversify risk while capitalizing on more investment opportunities than what may be available within just your home country. Finally, we take a top down approach to investing. Many money managers employ a stock picking first approach, selecting securities based on company specific criteria, like the price -to-earnings ratio, high sales growth or recent past performance. We take the opposite approach. First, we start with a high-level decision we believe has the greatest impact on long-term returns—your asset allocation, the mix of equities, bonds, cash and other securities you own. Next, we determine the categories of the market we expect to perform well going forward, including sectors, countries and styles. Only once these decisions are made, we select individual securities that fit within these categories. So, while a bottom-up investor seeks a needle in a haystack, we seek to target haystacks full of needles. That's the top-down approach.
